Abstract

Individualism tends to dominate the production chains of commodities, meaning that each link seeks to maximise efficiency for its own economic benefit, thereby forgetting the strengthening of the chain as a whole and its impacts on society. Following this line of reasoning, this article aims to map possible relationships for the use of Human Centered Design (HCD) in the coffee production chain with a focus on social innovation. For this, a bibliographic review was carried out addressing the topics of Coffee Production Chain, Social Innovation, Design Thinking and Human Centred Design. As a result, an opportunity was noticed to strengthen the productive chain in coffee by using HCD to increase the value added to products along the production chain.
