Abstract

The application of games in learning process presents an alternative to traditional teaching. However, the low quality of games frustrate students, who are familiar with high quality games, which makes this approach fail often as a motivating factor. This paper approaches the relationship between undergraduate students and games, through in-depth interviews conducted with six undergraduates students from a different courses. Based on what was reported by the participants of this study, we can observe the games from the player’s perspective and understand how their involvement with this type of medium works in the educational context. From the results of the interviews, it was possible to consider the factors that attract undergraduates to games, such as their personal preferences and positive and negative aspects of their experiences with educational games.
