Abstract

This article originates from the interdisciplinary field of Human Factors and seeks to showcase the strategies used by offshore workers in the oil and gas industry in the course of professional and personal dynamics. Therefore, the relationship between these strategies and the organizational, sectoral, daily and life story are considered. From the methodological perspective of interpretative social research, a reconstructive analysis of 42 biographical cases was carried out. The analysis resulted in the construction of typologies that identify and describe elements of the offshore culture, given the transformation of processes related to operational safety, but also to themes such as the exercise of leadership, accident investigations, and factors interpreted as protective by the workers.
