Abstract

The healthcare of pediatric patients requires leadership skills from the physicians involved in this care. For such development, the period of medical residency becomes opportune. Despite its relevance, there are few academic studies in this field; hence, the aim is to identify how medical residency contributes to the development of leadership skills in pediatric physicians. From the PubMed and CAPES Periodicals databases, 53 articles were retrieved. After analysis and the establishment of inclusion and exclusion criteria, a final sample of 15 articles was obtained. The results indicate that the need for leadership training has already been identified by conducted research; however, the adopted methodologies, the development of leadership skills, and the indicators for measuring the effectiveness of training are still topics that lack studies and can guide future research.
