Abstract

Competitive intelligence leads to key information that supports better strategic decisions. This is an attractive proposition in competitive sectors characterized by similar business models, price competition and low profit markups, difficulties that hinder firm survival in the medium and long terms, such as the Brazilian distance education market. This article aims to identify and analyze, using the competitive intelligence lens, the main variables that compose the segment of non-corporate open courses: threats and opportunities; competitiveness conditions; competitor movements and market trends. This is a qualitative study based on primary and secondary sources of information. The results reveal the current panorama and the future projection of studied sector.
