Green Intelligence: Leveraging Knowledge Management to Enhance Data Center Sustainability and Efficiency
Keywords:
Data center, Green intelligence, Knowledge management, SustainabilityAbstract
As data centers become the backbone of digital infrastructure, their energy consumption and environmental footprint have come under increasing scrutiny. This paper explores how integrating knowledge management (KM) practices with real-time data analytics can enhance the sustainability and operational efficiency of data centers. It investigates strategies for capturing, sharing, and applying knowledge related to energy optimization, thermal management, equipment lifecycle management, and renewable energy adoption. In addition to conducting a systematic literature review, the study incorporates an analysis of key white papers and governmental policy documents from both the United States and Europe, providing a broader context for sustainable IT operations. This expanded approach offers insight into how regulatory frameworks and industry standards shape best practices in energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The study highlights how organizations can harness KM systems integrated with real-time data analytics to improve decision-making, significantly lower carbon emissions, and foster sustainable innovation across IT operations. By systematically managing knowledge assets and aligning operational strategies with policy trends, organizations can not only reduce their environmental impact but also position themselves as leaders in the evolving landscape of sustainable digital infrastructure.
