KNOWLEDGE IN TERRITORIES: THE CASE OF THE EUROGARDEN PROJECT
Keywords:

Knowledge cities are urban areas concentrated to promote innovation, creativity, and the dissemination of knowledge (DEPINÉ et al., 2017). These environments integrate information and communication technologies (ICTs) to improve urban life and the quality of life of residents (DEPINÉ, 2018). The use of knowledge in territories has advanced in countries of the global south, especially in Brazil. However, knowledge about how these environments is structured has not yet been systematized, especially in contexts where there is little diffusion of technologies in the territories. In order to fill this research gap, this study aims to answer the research question: How can we explain the structuring of knowledge cities in contexts that are poorly structured for this purpose? Based on a qualitative study, the objective is to explain the structuring of a knowledge city project in a medium-sized Brazilian municipality. The method is the case study, specifically the case of Eurogarden, due to its size and national recognition. This is a planned neighborhood in an area of 1.4 million square meters, of which 583 thousand square meters are private areas and 796 thousand square meters are public areas. The case was structured based on secondary data sources and content posted on social networks. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The study presents a theoretical contribution by demonstrating the path and the actors involved in the construction of the project.
