Abstract

There is a consensus that Social Innovation is an important mechanism to respond to social challenges and its governance is still a sensitive factor. This article aims to understand how governance is established in organizations with social purposes, in the light of Social Innovation. For that, a study of multiple cases was developed, with a qualitative approach. As a result, the Governance System in Organizations with Social Purposes is described, in the light of Social Innovation. It was observed that the purpose and mission are determinant for governance, deriving from these, the identified elements: flexibility, internal learning, dynamism, collaboration, network and feedback, the principles, developed roles, mechanisms and management. As a suggestion for future studies, community and collective social learning, social capital and governance models applied in the context of Social Innovation are presented.
