THE ORGANIZATIONAL LEGACY FOR THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Resumo

National and international initiatives, aimed at managing more sustainable events, are being a differential in the promotion of events. The elaboration of organizational guides that guide the management of more sustainable events, the organization of awards by entities of the area value the practices of sustainability, the creation of the norm NBR ISO 20121, with guidelines on the management of sustainability in events and the obtaining of the certification allusive to the norm by mega-events, among others, are important milestones in this context. Through this article, we present actions related to the categories: stakeholder engagement, planning of disclosure and registration, choice of venue, rational use of water and energy, mobility and accessibility, definition of structures for the event, food supply, housing possibilities, solid waste management and carbon footprint. The collection of data through bibliographical and documentary research aimed to identify good practices for the management of more sustainable events, as well as to verify organizational initiatives that contemplate the principles of sustainability in the accomplishment of events. The study pointed to the importance of managers seeking a better understanding of the motivations of stakeholders involved in sustainability, as well as the responsibility of organizations to leave a legacy for the local and global community
