Sustainability is also part of the world of technology. After all, optimizing the use and disposal of equipment is a commitment that companies must pay attention to. This is where the concept of green information technology comes into play. The United Nations organization is currently promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, which bring together 17 challenges to end poverty, protect the environment and climate and ensure that people everywhere can enjoy prosperity. Studies have already shown that creating initiatives that value the environment, social aspects and governance increases the market value and profit margin of companies. In addition, adopting green practices demonstrates a long-term vision and social responsibility, which has a positive impact on a company's reputation. Therefore, this study aims to discuss IT practices in the organizational environment. A more conscious corporate environment tends to create synergies between teams, promoting innovations and solutions aligned with sustainable objectives. The study's methodological approach was structured on the basis of a systematic literature review. This is a qualitative study. The results show that there are various ways of implementing Green IT in organizations. Also, many companies are starting to put Green IT into practice, although this is more due to pressure from the government or society than of their own volition. Finally, the practice of green IT becomes a strategic decision, generating a competitive advantage.
