Sustainability, Humanization, and Ethical Innovation in the Digital Age: The Role of Industry 5.0 in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
Keywords:

Industry 5.0 emerges as an evolution of Industry 4.0 by emphasizing not only technological efficiency but also human centrality (humanization), sustainability, and ethical innovation. In a global context marked by socio-environmental challenges and the urgency of fulfilling the UN's 2030 Agenda, it becomes necessary to investigate how this new industrial paradigm can contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to analyze the role of Industry 5.0 in promoting the SDGs, focusing on more inclusive, sustainable, and ethically-guided production practices. The methodology adopted uses a qualitative approach, combining a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 42 articles published between 2019 and 2024, and 20 semi-structured interviews with experts from the academic, industrial, and governmental sectors. The results reveal a strong convergence between the principles of Industry 5.0 and SDGs 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13. Key insights include the need for inclusive public policies, continuous professional development, the role of enabling technologies in reducing inequalities, and the strengthening of ethics in automation and decision-making processes. It is concluded that Industry 5.0 represents more than a technological advancement: it is a sociotechnical paradigm shift focused on purposeful production, respecting environmental limits, and promoting human well-being, provided that there is multisectoral cooperation, social justice, and responsible innovation governance.
