INTEGRATING SEPTIC TANK USERS INTO THE PUBLIC SANITATION SYSTEM
Keywords:
User integration, E-Government, socio-economic effectiveness, SanitationAbstract
This study examines the gap between the data reported by Brazilian sanitation companies and the actual coverage of sanitation services, with a focus on rural areas. It reveals substantial underreporting of users utilizing alternative sanitation systems, resulting in approximately 32% of the rural population being marginalized. Through exploratory research conducted in Santa Catarina, this pa-per advocates for the adoption of electronic governance (e-Gov) platforms to bet-ter integrate these communities into official public sanitation systems. Key recommendations include utilizing digital tools to improve information dissemina-tion and management, thereby enhancing socio-economic outcomes and ensuring more efficient service delivery.
