Abstract

Knowledge Management (KM) in Disaster Risk Reduction has been expanded with the creation and sharing of good practices in Disaster Risk Management, in all organizations involved in the civil defense system. To understand the practical contributions that KM can provide to Disaster Risk Management, we analyzed 21 articles in an integrative review, looking for recurring themes. The results point to three major themes that unite KM practices: management and technology; good practices and knowledge sharing; and knowledge gaps. Lessons learned was the most common practice reported by the articles and the difficulty of implementing KM effectively in disaster management was emphasized, revealing that attention to risk management is a way to make KM practices effective.
