Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the prototype of the leader in the context of military fire brigade, based on cognitive schemes and the conception of prototypes of the Implicit Leadership Theory. In the literature, leadership processes and leader development are usually analyzed based on observed contextual demands, with few studies focusing on the leader prototype in a military context. To advance in the subject, a qualitative approach was adopted, with data collection through focus groups and thematic analysis technique at a semantic level in the collected data set. As a result, six characteristics were identified and classified as follows: intrapersonal, social, emotional, moral, strategic, and technical. Twenty sub-characteristics were found for these characteristics, which compose the prototype of the leader in the context of military firefighters.
