Abstract

To be ambidextrous, companies may need extra resources. Therefore, there are positive relationships between open innovation and ambidexterity, but there is no consensus and gaps persist. Thus, this research investigated trends of incorporation of both areas through a bibliometric review of the literature. Of 467 baseline studies, after inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample of 61 articles was obtained. The software used for data analysis was VOSviewer. The studies are directed more to the search for external knowledge than to the sharing of internal knowledge. There was a greater focus on disruptive innovations. It is understood that although the themes are not new, the simultaneous treatment only deepened more recently, which may be the cause of gaps pointed out by the authors themselves.
