Abstract

The selection of ideas is a critical point for any organization that seeks to develop products with innovative potential. Selecting which ideas will move forward within a context of uncertainties that is inherent in the early stages of innovation requires the use of methods, techniques, and tools as supporters. Thus, the purpose of this article is to identify which technical methods and tools are being used by innovative companies to support the selection of ideas. For this, a bibliographic research was carried out through systematic search. Field interviews were also conducted with three organizations considered to be innovative. The results allow to identify that hierarchical and multicriteria techniques are the most cited in the literature for the selection of ideas. However, in organizations, simpler methods, techniques and tools are used, such as assigning scores and forming a prioritization list. Other issues were identified as the difficulty of handling the large volume of ideas and the use of ideas management systems or web platforms for interaction with the community.
