Abstract

Innovation has become an important aspect for the business community in recent decades, including micro and small enterprises (MSEs). However, the process of innovation of MSEs still needs a better understanding. The purpose of this article is to present the results of a survey on practices and forms of process innovation in innovative MSEs in RS state. An exploratory research was held with 11 MSEs, through in-depth interviews with their managers and further analysis of data content, based on the model of Innovative Organization Diagnosis of FGV/EAESP. The main results indicate that people and innovation process dimensions showed low presence or even inexistence in the MSEs searched. It was also possible to identify certain difference of the innovation process´ orientation of MSEs from industry and services.
