Resumen

The social responsibility and sustainability have been integrated in the organizations as time pass by. The higher education institutions (HEI) have started to work the university social responsibility (USR) at least in the areas that form them (teaching, research, management and extension); fostering and encouraging initiatives from the different actors. In addition, the role of these institutions from the USR transit from make easier the social inclusion, for example, through an alternative formation. This challenge has led institutions to design specific programs where interest groups of the university community participate with the goal of having a wider incidence. This article analyses a Mexican University program, Prepa@Net, using an evaluation regarding its design, consistence and results. Prepa@Net consists in teaching high school on line to adults with low income. The assessment methodology was designed by the Evaluation Council of Public Policy, and the innovation in this paper is using RSU as a base. The analysis shows that the development of the program not only has increased the beneficiaries’ enrollment but its graduation too. In conclusion, the participation of HEIs is reflected in the integration of different interest groups (managers, teachers, staff, and essentially students) when participating in voluntarily and in the opportunity of scaling the boost of online programs using USR.
