Innovation Hubs in the State of Paraná, Southern Brazil: a study of technology parks
Keywords:
Innovation ecosystems, Territorial development, Regional innovationAbstract
Technology parks are strategic instruments for strengthening innovation ecosystems by fostering collaboration among universities, companies, and government. They encourage applied research, entrepreneurship, and regional development. In southern Brazil, particularly in the state of Paraná, a significant number of such initiatives can be observed. In this context, the aim of this study was to map the technology parks in Paraná, analyzing their geographic distribution, characteristics, and contributions to the territories in which they are located. This is a descriptive and exploratory study. Data were obtained through documentary research. The results reveal a decentralized distribution of technology parks across the state, with a strong presence in the Northern, Northwestern, Western, Southern, and Eastern regions. The coexistence of parks at different stages of development within the same region reflects the maturity of local innovation ecosystems. It is concluded that Paraná’s technology parks contribute to the diffusion of innovation to inland areas, the strengthening of regional vocations, and the stimulation of local economies.
