One of the steps for effective management is to obtain a diagnosis about the level of maturity of an organization in terms of knowledge management. However, few initiatives are taken in this direction. In this context, a diagnosis was made on the level of maturity in knowledge management at a university in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, Brazil.A cross-sectional study was carried out with the average administrative management, through a closed questionnaire and printed with the public administration of education. A descriptive and scalar analysis was performed to tabulate the data. It found that the level of maturity of knowledge management of the research institution is in a good level of maturity, however, recognize the need to manage knowledge and implement processes for this purpose in some areas.
