Abstract

Analyzing the competencies and skills of farmers in the context of the digital transformation of Brazilian agribusiness is essential. The adoption of technologies and obtaining different knowledge for the management of smart farms - Smart Farms (SF) is a reality. Therefore it is opportune to advance research in this area. This research, characterized by a quantitative approach, adopted the survey research method to collect information from 93 Brazilian farmers. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics techniques, and reveal that 83.3% of farmers claim to have implemented new technologies on their rural properties in the last 3 years. Regarding the competencies and skills that influence the adoption of smart agriculture, farmers consider it essential to exchange information by digital means, use data and information combined with new technologies to reduce production costs, and acquire and put new knowledge into practice.
