Abstract

In recent years, Knowledge Management (KM) has become increasingly relevant in Chile, with a growing number of organisations interested in implementing KM policies and practices. However, these attempts face various problems and obstacles to their execution and implementation, often hindering their development. Little is known about these problems and obstacles due to the limited research that has been done on the subject. Therefore, the objective of this research is to find out the main barriers faced by professionals and managers of organisations when trying to carry out QA initiatives in the context of Chilean organisations. The study was based on the review of twenty-six cases of QA initiatives implemented between 2010 and 2022 in Chile, which were described and analysed using qualitative methodology. Finally, this study analyses these obstacles, the main differences with the problems exposed in the literature and proposes a further theoretical reflection on the need to broaden the gaze towards a theory that is more inclusive of the national and organisational culture of developing economies.
