Abstract

This article examines the models of sustainability indicators developed for the context of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Brazil, which are fundamental for promoting sustainable practices and guiding strategic decisions. Through an integrative literature review and the snowball method, 15 studies addressing sustainability assessment models in Brazilian HEIs were analyzed. The results highlight the diversity and complexity of the existing models, ranging from broad to specific approaches, underscoring the need for adaptation to the local context for greater effectiveness. This diversity emphasizes the importance of developing more precise and applicable indicators, essential not only for advancing sustainable practices in HEIs but also for maximizing their positive impact on society and the environment
