The Strategic Convergence of Transmedia, Artificial Intelligence, and Knowledge Management: An Integrative Literature Review
Keywords:
Integrative Review, Transmedia Strategies, Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management, Digital ConvergenceAbstract
This integrative literature review explores the convergence between transmedia strategies (TS), artificial intelligence (AI), and knowledge management (KM), based on 14 key documents—13 peer-reviewed articles (2016–2025) and one conceptually relevant white paper. The methodological approach combines frameworks from Whittemore and Knafl (2005), Tranfield et al. (2003), and Torraco (2016), integrating the flexibility of integrative reviews, the procedural rigor of systematic reviews in social sciences, and a strong emphasis on theory-building through conceptual synthesis. Data were collected from Scopus, Web of Science, and Emerald databases. The analysis reveals interconnections among the three domains, highlights practical applications, identifies emerging trends, and maps research gaps. AI supports KM processes and enables personalized transmedia experiences; transmedia provides narrative and experiential infrastructure; KM offers strategic orientation. The review presents theoretical contributions that expand existing models and propose integrative frameworks applicable to formal education and learning contexts. Practical implications include opportunities for system design, skill development, and innovation across sectors, with attention to ethical implementation. Main gaps include the lack of empirical studies integrating all three domains and the need for further validation of conceptual models. The study concludes that this interdisciplinary convergence holds transformative potential requiring theoretically grounded and ethically responsible approaches.
