Abstract

This study seeks to investigate the relationship between the absorptive capacity, the environmental dynamism and the firm’s performance using as universe sample the wine sector of the South of Brazil. Were analyzed 77 valid questionnaires of a research with fine grapes producers from the States of RS and SC, applying the software SmartPLS to evaluate the proposed hypothesis relationships. As a result, it was concluded that the effect of Absorptive Capacity on Performance is positive and significant, as well as the effect of Environmental Dynamics on Absorptive Capacity, however the hypothesis of the influence of environmental dynamism on wine companies performance was not supported. As conclusion, it is demonstrated that deserves better investigation because the dynamism does not impact on the performance. In practice, this means that when the manager perceives the environment as dynamic, it adopts knowledge-absorbing practices to address this dynamism, resulting in increased organizational performance. The contribution of the present study to the area of strategic management can also be highlighted, revealing the behavior of the managers in relation to the capacity to absorb knowledge and its connection with the dynamism of the environment.
