Abstract

Social innovation is directly related to a new look and a change in attitude towards the social needs of disadvantaged communities. Among its activities, cooperativism seeks to serve people who do not have the same opportunities within society and who somehow fit into the class of socially excluded. The objective of this research is to describe the social innovation initiatives carried out by cooperatives located in the south of Santa Catarina in order to promote social inclusion. It is a qualitative research. For data collection, semi-structured interviews and documentary survey were performed. The results showed that the actions taken by the cooperatives, in a collaborative way, make the community more participative and included, awakening cooperation and valuing people.
