Abstract

The logic of society that develops based on purely economic premises, is being increasingly challenged. Actions that foster innovation as the social purpose is increasingly necessary, for sustainable and egalitarian development. Social innovation represents a third way of this development and presents itself from different perspectives. The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics that differentiate social innovation from other innovations. To this end, a qualitative review of the literature was carried out with searches on the Google Scholar, Scopus and CAPES databases. As a result, it is observed that the main differences are connected with elements of governance, decision making in a collaborative way, together with the diversity of actors involved in its process.
