Abstract

In Brazilian agribusiness, the contribution of women in dairy cattle farming is underexplored, despite their significant increase in participation in the sector. The objective of this study is to identify the characteristics of the female leadership style in milk production, specifically in dairy cattle farming in the São Bonifácio and Águas Mornas regions in Santa Catarina, Brazil. This qualitative research employs the thematic analysis method to understand the roles of women in the dairy sector of this region. Through the analysis of the data, it is possible to identify some characteristics of female leadership in the daily activities of milk production. This study found that work on rural properties is carried out as a team effort and is coordinated and systematized under the influence of women. It can be affirmed that the interviewed women exhibit a profile of situational leadership.
