Abstract

The patents developed by universities play a crucial role in driving innovation and scientific advancement. Thus, in this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 311 patents published by UFSC, primarily concentrated between 2020 and 2022. The most representative areas were human needs, chemistry and metallurgy, and processing and transportation operations, encompassing medical science, measurement, and organic chemistry. The departments of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Food Engineering, Chemistry, and Electrical Engineering stood out in the publications. Topics included industrial technologies, refrigeration, and new materials/manufacturing processes. The analysis provides strategic insights for knowledge and technology transfer, contributing to economic and social development.
