Abstract

The field of knowledge management (KM) in the public sector (PS) is a research agenda of increasing importance. The objective of this study is to analyze the literature on KM in the PS and provide an overview of the current state of the field. The research was conducted using the integrative literature review method, analyzing articles collected from the Web of Science and Scielo databases over the past decade. The results indicate that KM in the PS is a relevant area of investigation, with trends in studies focusing on the following aspects: the impact of investments in KM processes on organizational performance, facilitators and barriers to knowledge sharing in the public sector, and the relationship between motivation and commitment in KM. Although KM in the PS is emerging in academic studies, there is still much progress to be made compared to studies on the private sector.
