Abstract

Nowadays, knowledge is considered as the main asset of organizations, being an important strategic input to ensure their competitiveness and survival. Therefore, the knowledge loss can be considered a great risk, especially for knowledge intensive companies. Thus, the objective of this study is to understand about knowledge loss, linked to human factors, in the technology sector. To this end, a systematic literature review was performed, which included empirical studies applied in this sector / activity. Results indicate that turnover is the main cause of knowledge loss. Risks to companies are varied, and these can have financial and non-financial impacts. Still, some strategies for the mitigation of knowledge loss were presented.
