Abstract

This research aims to understand the relations and contributions of knowledge management (KM) to the management of protected areas. The methodology adopted was the integrative review, consulting the Scopus, Web of Science and SciELO databases. Qualitative data analysis revealed that there are techniques, methodologies and tools in each KM process, which are used in the management of protected areas, with emphasis on: benchmarking and case study, in the process of knowledge creation; the database in storage; knowledge mapping, reporting and scientific training in sharing; local and expert knowledge in use; and the use of auditing and organizational memory system in the full KM cycle.
