Abstract

Mentoring has been considered a practice recognized for the positive results achieved, both in the professional environment, especially in contexts of innovation, and in the academic one. In higher education, studies have shown that the practice of mentoring contributes to the development of students' technical and socio-emotional skills. In this sense, this case reports the practical experience of implementing a mentoring program by a higher education institution in southern Brazil, through the adoption of mentoring for startups, carried out in person and in groups, by a mentor teacher and by mentoring students, focusing on the development of the professional role and career model, based on the orientation towards learning goals. For that, an exploratory, descriptive, bibliographic and documentary research was carried out. Data collection occurred through participant observation and through an online questionnaire using the Google Forms tool. The main results were the increase in the relationship between theory and practice, in addition to the development of students' skills, as well as contribution to professional and student performance.
