Abstract

The advancement of digital transformation has provided a growing application and use of technologies in various fields and sectors of contemporary society. In this sense, several studies have pointed to the possibilities and opportunities for the adoption of wearables in industries of high operational complexity as solutions aimed at the safety and health of workers in various sectors. By examining the potential applicability of wearables according to the perception of workers in the oil and gas (O&G) industry, this study proposes and develops an analytical framework of the applicability of wearables with the potential to promote safety in the O&G industry. The study revealed a low use of wearables, and by adopting an approach oriented to the experience and opinions of workers, it presents a map with clues and opportunities for processes of adoption and/or development of wearables and similar digital technologies.
