Abstract

This research aims to present an overview of publications dealing with innovation in the health area, identified in the PubMed database, in order to understand how the academic community has been working on this topic. This is an applied research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, with exploratory and descriptive objectives. Data were analyzed using the parameters of the bibliometric technique. 99 publications were selected. The results show that this topic is not new and has been gaining relevance since 2013. 422 authors were identified who publish on the topic in 87 different journals. These publications add up to 5,430 citations. Based on the study focus of these works, it was possible to conclude that the theme is essential to improve the care provided to citizens through biomedical innovations, tangible and intangible medical innovations.
