Abstract

Abstract:The transformation of society sponsored by information technologies is defined as Cybersociety, and the perception of others in these virtual spaces is referred to as social presence. This qualitative study aimed to gather students' perceptions of social presence in the Cybersociety course (2021-1) of the Engineering and Knowledge Management Program at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The results indicate that students have a high perception of social presence from the professors. Regarding classmates, social presence is low, even though respondents recognize the importance of interaction among classmates. There is a lack of interaction among students in the researched course. This knowledge could contribute to improving virtual learning processes and help create more supportive and collaborative educational environments.
