Abstract

This paper brings an overview of the research regarding the use of games to promote engagement in the learning of theoretical contents. The use of games has been present in the educational environment for many years, due to the deficiencies noted in traditional teaching regarding student motivation. The student expresses difficulties to realize the practical application of many of the content and constantly considers school activity as something tedious and unpleasant. Through a systematic review, this paper highlights the advantages of using games to support theoretical lecturing, as well as recommendations for a better use of this resource.
