Resumo

The attention of the scientific community and organizations interested in Knowledge Management has
grown to the topic of Knowledge Services. With increasing capacity for processing, connection and
data, a viable alternative to meet the great demand for knowledge has been the services. Many
concepts, paradigms and applications have been presented on the theme. This article aims to clarify
doubts about this topic, presenting an overview of Knowledge Services from the viewpoint of
Knowledge Management, revisiting their origins and how they relate to the development of the theme,
also presents how Knowledge Services are available in Organizations and what the benefits are in
their adoption. An economic view of the Services and the basic concepts of the area is presented, such
as Knowledge, the Services paradigm, and the Knowledge Service. Discusses some trends in the area
such as Knowledge Fusion and some applications are already presented to the market as KaaS
(Knowledge as a Service), KMaaS (Knowledge Management as a Service) and Knowledge Services
driven by product design activities.
