Abstract

Abstract: In a public organization such as the Military Police of Santa Catarina (PMSC), Knowledge Management (KM) is an important factor for value generation. Focusing on the perceptions of different strata of the corporation, the aim is to understand how KM can be optimized to improve operational efficiency and decision-making in the Public Security spectrum. Using a quantitative methodology, a structured questionnaire was applied addressing points about organizational culture, technological infrastructure, employee competence and commitment, work processes and knowledge, and general perceptions about KM. The results revealed a substantial variation in the perceptions of different levels of managers about KM in PMSC. The conclusions of the study emphasize the importance of differentiated KM strategies adapted to the specific needs of each hierarchical group.
