A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE ON ONTOLOGIES APPLIED TO E-LEARNING

The Semantic Web and its technologies aim to establish a current evolution of the web, syntactic, to an environment in which software and user can work in a cooperative way. In this scenario, Linked Data technologies and ontologies stand out, providing the necessary tools to sediment the foundation of the Semantic Web. In order to evaluate the growing interest in these technologies applied to E-Learning, this article has reviewed the literature of the last five years analyzing some academic databases. From this, a framework was used to classify the ontologies found based on similar works developed by other authors. In this way, it was possible to easily evaluate some research lines that are evolving and arousing greater interest in the area, thus providing subsidies for critical reflection in the development of new works. Publications that make use of ontologies for pedagogical design were the most found in the selected databases, followed by those use ontologies as a support to the personalization process. At the end, it is concluded that in the literature there are many works that focus on the use of ontologies as a support for the development of resources and pedagogical methods. A critical look seems to be needed to stimulate the development of other thematic areas in which the use of ontologies can maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the teaching process in online environments.
