Resumen

This paper presents a comparative analysis of major knowledge graph frameworks developed for smart city contexts, including UrbanKG, UUKG, NGSI-LD, UrbanKGent, and others. The study evaluates these frameworks based on multiple dimensions such as architectural design, ontology coverage, semantic interoperability, data integration capabilities, and urban application domains. Through a systematic comparison, the paper highlights both convergences and divergences in their approaches to structuring urban knowledge and supporting intelligent services such as mobility, infrastructure management, and public services monitoring. The results contribute to identifying best practices, technical gaps, and potential directions for designing knowledge-based infrastructures for urban environments. This comparative review also lays the groundwork for the development of a lightweight and scalable framework—SmallCityKG—addressed in a follow-up study.
